So you’ve met this amazing man who makes you laugh, keeps you smiling and you genuinely enjoy being around one another. While the conversation may also be good and he makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, something’s not quite right! Maybe it’s the sudden changes in his mood, the hesitancy he shows when the topic of commitment comes up, how he talks about his hopelessness regarding love, or how everything that went wrong in his past relationship was because of his ex. The power of your woman’s intuition is a beautiful thing, but do you trust it? You may be looking on the bright side, ignoring those red flags, but your intuition may be indicating that you’re dealing with a broken man!
Every woman has either been in a relationship or a situationship with a broken man, at least once or twice in her life. If you haven’t then good for you (you’re one of the lucky ones) but if you’re human like me then you have (lol) and know that dealing with a broken man takes strength, patience and self-awareness like no other! While it’s not a woman’s job to teach a man how to be a man, dealing with a man who is broken means you’re making the decision to pour out more than what you will get in, eventually leaving you with an empty cup. In no way shape or form am I making the claim you can’t eventually be happy with a broken man, but what I am saying is that you should know what you’re getting yourself into. Often times women sacrifice their femininity, or self-worth because they genuinely believe they hold the key to mending a broken man.
There’s several signs that suggest a man is struggling with brokenness, so be conscious of what to look for:
- His constant talking about his ex (specifically like he’s a man scorned or even comparing you to her)
- The way in which he keeps you at a distance, causing you to sense his uneasiness when talking about commitment
- He is not open to the possibility of love; noting his past for this apprehension
- He has a hard time trusting you and has openly admitted this
- Often times he’s emotionally unavailable, especially when you need it the most
He may be telling you he’s secure with who he is as a man, that he’s not hurt, he’s over his ex and he’s ready to be with you but what does your gut say? It is your intuition that will help you make the discernment to stay or walk away. Before you end up being a broken man’s rebound, emotional punching bag or with your own broken heart understand that no amount of love or support you give will mend a broken man. As I’ve mentioned, by no means am I saying that you can’t eventually be happy with a broken man, but keep in mind that until he does some intentional work for himself the love you give will never be fully reciprocated.

I can definitely relate to this situation. Hopefully we all learn from this situation and learn to trust one’s self. We need not to allow ourselves to a bandage for people when sometime we need one for ourselves.

Yes, this is so true! We need to be whole as individuals rather than two broken people trying to make something work!
